In 1997 FCE started work in 25 villages in Masaiti district. The more we got involved, the more  we realized the need for children to be schooled. None of the kids had ever attended any formal school.
 
In 2002 a village school was opened in pouring rain, with 90 eager children. Jannie Compion and the staff were greeted by their chanting voices: "Jesus, Jesus, Jesus!" The five classrooms, which were erected by the parents, had no walls and only thatched roofs to protect the children against the elements. None of the children could speak English.  Their ages varied between 5 - 20 years old.

It is now 8 years later and the school buildings are finished. It looks marvelous. The children speak English fluently. Luke, a Zambian, is the principle of the school.  Like the rest of the staff, he is an ex-student of the FCE College. None of the teachers receive any salary. The love of Christ urges them to teach "in the bush".

The majority of the parents of these children don't know the Lord and thus witchcraft and superstition still have a strong influence on their mindsets. Many of the parents don't co-operate with the school, because they don't understand the need for education. Apart from the education of the children, FCE is also involved in the education of the parents.  

Prayer Requests for the CTC

* The CTC school is in the process of registering as a private school. The inspectors came to inspect everything during the last term, and were very positive. Praise God that everything went well. Please pray that all the final arrangements will be completed for the school to be registered as soon as possible.

* The school still needs ablution facilities. The bricks are almost ready, which means the building process can begin. Thank God for all the finances given to this project. Please pray for His protection on the building team.

* Pray for the electricity line connection for the school, and the money required.

* Pray for the first gr. 8 class: teachers, finances and materials still needed.

* Pray for the parents, and the problems of alcohol abuse and divorce, traditions and witchcraft. These cause children to experience conflict between God’s love at school and spiritual problems at home.

* Pray for children that struggle with feelings of hopelesness. Pray for them to experience hope.
